Latest: The HSPBA bargaining committee has reached a tentative agreement with the employer. As of March 12, members voted 89.5% in favour of ratifying the agreement.

Health Science Professionals work as social program officers, environmental health officers, public health inspectors, occupational therapists, medical laboratory technologists, recreation therapists and more. Improvements to wages to keep up with the cost of living as well as benefits and pensions will be the top bargaining issues BCGEU members will bring to the table with the other unions of the Health Science Professionals Bargaining Association (HSPBA).

• The Health Science Professionals Bargaining Association (HSPBA) agreement is negotiated with the Health Employers Association of BC (HEABC).

• The BCGEU is part of the multi-union association led by the Health Sciences Association (HSA).

• Total workers covered: over 25,100 (HSA represents 80%).

• BCGEU members covered: over 3,300.

• The previous HSPBA collective agreement took effect April 1, 2022 and expired on March 31, 2025.
